The first project for my Concepts & Storyboards class, we were assigned a project to create two different poster-style ads for Gillette. Each ad had to be representative of a different art movement. The two movements I chose were Pop-Art and Constructivism. The graphic I used for the razor image I pulled out of a 2006 Gillette patent application within the public domain.

Marlboro Ad Concept [PopArt Style] from Nathan Boyd on Vimeo.
In my Motion Tech II class; the project was to pick a product and an art movement and combine them into a single motion composition. I chose pop-art for the strong graphic style and Marlboro because of their iconic colors and imagery.

Sherlock Holmes [Time Based Type] from Nathan Boyd on Vimeo.
The first project of my Time Based Typography class, we each chose a segment of audio from either a movie or tv show to animate with typography. I ended up choosing this excerpt from a fight scene in Sherlock Holmes. Per my professor’s recommendation, I tried to push my concept further than just a stereotypical old parchment, printing press treatment. After discussing several options, I decided that I might try to use the words that were spoken as a metaphor for deforestation and the destructive nature of man. With a visual treatment that created an almost sterile environment, I used simple shapes to communicate my larger idea.
